Beneath the Surface: an introduction to me
I designed this booklet as part of my Journalism 612 class. The challenge was to “brand ourselves.” After weeks of researching myself, this is what I devised.
I am a journalism major at the University of Kansas, where I will graduate in December of 2016.
My mom used to tell me, “you can be whatever you want to be and do whatever you want to do—you just have to set your mind to it.” I took her advice and ran with it; I’m a dreamer, an artist, a designer, a writer, a photographer, a scuba diver, a scholar, a traveler, and a devoted go-getter. I am eager to become so much more.
I could easily spend hours strewing paint on any surface. And often get so absorbed in a project I lose all track of time. When I’m doing something I love, time is no longer important. I love a lot of things, but I am truly passionate about three: love, laughter, and adventure.
My dad is my hero and mother and sister are my best friends. I am fiercely devoted to my family and friends. I am innately happy—I get drunk on laughter. It doesn’t take much to make me burst into a fit of giggles. I love trying new foods, going places I’ve never been, and doing things I’ve never done. I’m not fearless—just not afraid to conquer my fears.
